Amzing Spiderman - You are too smart

Poor Peter Parker!! Too smart to be a Spiderman.

Instead of creating this movie Marc Webb could have put his effort in making the old movie in 3D.

Few elements are good in this movie:

• Action scenes & Camera angle  
• Overall appearances of new spider man (in mask)
• Humor

But there are many reasons which make it inferior to the previous versions

• Peter Parker is too smart. All over the movie, it seemed, he always knew the script and, so, was just performing his act. He didn’t need to realize/discover what power he had. He’s very much aware of spider effect. Most probably, new Spiderman already had gone through the story of old Spiderman.  
• Spider bite takes effect so quickly.
• The Director was turning the wheel of the story so hurriedly.  Somebody might have told him “Go home early”.
• Emma stone was the perfect mismatch for the spider girlfriend.
• Moreover, 3D quality was not good. Those who have seen it in 2D, may not have to regret.

So, in due course, it couldn’t live up to my expectation, It's not at all amazing from any angle.

Why this kolaveri di ?

It sounds , painfully, funny that 93 persons are dead in a fire in a Hospital, an institution where people come to rejuvenate, to recover from the or disabilities. But the incident is not in accord with this truth. Those who have now become stars of the sky, may be singing this song in a sarcastic manner –“why this kilaveri di? “ – Why did you do this to me? But what my point is that who this “you”, they pointing to. Is it the responsible of the owner, board members or the intelligent corporate honchos or the dutiful hospital stuffs or is it the circumspective fire department officials, or the watchful police department. The Govt. and the law already have taken its course of action by victimizing the guilty owners and the board members and everybody look content with such a quick and effective decision of the administration. But I belief that this is not the last one, many more such incident are about to come in future. This will not deter other people in other sector to evade fire security policy. If we start finding out, it will open a Pandora’s box.

I look it in a different perspective. Accident can happen anytime, anywhere but our main focus should be on managing accident after they occur rather than preventing them to occur at first place. Instead of considering it as a random accident, I see it as an outcome of many different incidents/actions developing over the years. Fire broke out, but the hospital stuffs didn’t informed Fire Department and police immediately as a compliance with the rules and regulations of the hospital management. Hospital management took this decision of not calling fire department as result of their past experience of extinguishing the fire their own without giving a chance to tarnish the hospital’s goodwill. The hospital management flouted the fire security policy and building plan etc. But where from they got this right to play with the life of people by ignoring the rules and regulation. Fire department warned them about the unauthorized dumping of chemicals at the basement and gave them a notice to work upon. But after that it had been few months that the police or department ignored to give a visit and to check the improvement. This is our very fond “Chalta hai” attitude, because of our “ho jayega”, procrastinating habit. Insincerity is there in our blood. From corporate boss to floor sweeper, whatever the profession it is, we do our work not out of our sincerity and responsibility rather out of conformity and compulsion. Those corporate are not aliens they are someone like us; their small decisions have lot of echo unlike the others who ignore their work by thinking that it does not harm others. But work is work, how small it is, both are member of same ethnic group. Corruption is not only giving or taking bribe, if you are not sincere or responsible to your work that is also a kind of corruption. In either way most of us corrupted to some extent. So if we are not a better person how can we expect the same from a person from whom we are getting service?

The hospital was flouting its lack of fire prevention facility for year after year. Why the hospital was was given permission to run even one day after getting notice from fire department or if it were necessary why fire department/police administration was were not conscious about the seriousness of the situation. How many times you have seen that a board member or a manager or a minister who is part of the board is detained after an accident in aero plane or rail. It’s very common in India that in any road accident between two entities, people start biting the one who is survived, or less injured or unscathed without wasting anytime in finding the real guilty.

So, punishing the big bosses will not solve the problem. There is person like us who is there in the police profession, fire brigade, hospital staff or in the management group. Today their little ignorance has paid the price. So may be those dead souls pointing us as 'you’ in a sarcastic way. What can make a difference is the change in our mentality. If we start thinking that each of our activity is accountable to country or society, it is not very far that we will be agreeing with author:

"Bharat abar jagat sobhay srestho ason lobe"

DON II - Movie review

Don II. it’s beyond average. My rating will be 6 out of 10.

Overall the movie is good. The reasons why you should see this movie are:

1. The Director is Farhan Akhtar
2. It’s splendid Dialogue delivery.
3. Don’s sense of humor at serious situations(It reminds me of James Bond).
4. Action sequences are comparable to Hollywood.
5. Thoroughly entertaining and the movie progressed with a good speed.
6. The suspense at the ending.
7. Last but not the least, it’s charisma of SRK.

On the negative side, few things will catch your eyes:

1. Why SRK suddenly disguised as Hrithik. Even height and voice also matched (As suggested by my friend, it could have been better if it were Big B instead of Hrithik..:D)
2. There was some space for acting for other actors in Don Part I, but part II is totally SRK focused there was no scope for Boman Irani.
3. The movie could have been better if Farhan maintained the looks of SRK same as First or last scene. This is what happens when you perform in two movies (Ra 1 and Don) together.
4. The film show its first symptom as Hindi movie when SRK fall in love with ROMA (Priyanka Chopra) and director didn’t let a chance to show his India blood by not killing Roma tough she was hit by a bullet.
5. Those who have seen Ocean 11 or MI, won’t be able to watch the movie without a thought in their mind. 

Lastly, it’s a life line for SRK after debacle of Ra-One.

Imbalanced RULES

Rule should be same for everyone. If it is applied to batsmen, same should be applicable for bowlers too. In any sport, which involves physical activity, keeping all your energy and strength throughout the game is a fine quality. But there are times when players may seek for replacement due to injury, dehydration etc. and cricket is the only game where you get help from your co-players. 

Abolishing runner in cricket means strengthening the fielding side. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar correctly said, “I would also like to suggest that there should be no water for bowlers at the boundary end. They bowl one over and come to the boundary where energy drinks are waiting for them”. So if batsman doesn’t get oxygen, bowler also doesn’t merit it. Even, in case a bowler is injured either he has to complete his over or that over should remain incomplete. And that’s how bowlers and batsmen would be treated evenly.

Also, it’s not that taking runner is always beneficial, most of the cases we have seen lack of co-ordination between batsman and runner and thereby getting dismissed by run-out. So runner in most of the cases is a least choice.

So you can’t simply do away with the runners, if you want a fairer game for each side (batting & fielding), you have to have holistic view. A rule should protect the interest of both the bowler and batsman uniformly.

Like all other recent changes/rules, I believe, this rule also will live for a shorter period…:)).

Durga Puja at different phases of my life.

 

“Dong”, “Dong”, “Dong”, “Dongggggggggggg………”

Once the final bell rang after the Holiday notice in school, it’s like the freedom when a cow manages to set free from its collar. It’s the puja vacation; so no books, no study, no homework and only playing.

When I was child Durga puja meant to me boundless amusement, fun without any restriction or forbiddance from parents; it’s to run, play hide and sick all day, having delicious homemade foods at breakfast-lunch-dinner, playing with the newly acquired toys anytime, pandal hopping at night until you are tired enough to ride back home on father’s lap or shoulder and finally fall asleep with the dream of next day’s anticipated fun. The fun used to start much before the actual puja when first pair of new dresses come in my hand and  never seemed to stop even after the dashami/bijoya as we used to visit all our near and dear relatives for next couple of weeks to exchange the good wishes, love and respects. And it finally used to conclude once the school was open. 

This is how childhood days used to spread wings during the greatest festival of all festival. At childhood, Durga Puja was synonymous to endless fun as there was no word called sorrow or pain in my childhood lexicon. 

 

Then came my youth with all its charm. With the growing age friends became my integral part of my life at the same time the definition of puja had changed in my life along with its periphery. Puja is then not only Pandal hopping, it meant “Chowmin”, “Egg roll” at roadside stall concluded with a must cold drink or Ice cream, gazing at beautiful girls and standing in long queue for a glimpse of Durga Idol and finally returning home mid night being depleted of energy.  Then my pandal hopping was not only confined within local area but it also stretched over river. Kolkata had become the hot destination for puja time. After the initial youth days, life got a new dimension since I fell in love. That was one of my best puja when, for the first time, I accidentally hold the hand of my girl in crowd and walked a long distance without talking any words; the image is still fresh in my mind and can feel the excitement too. Though, after that, I gathered more courage and hold her hand many times deliberately. Good time does not stay long but we cherish our good time because it is so, because it is ephemeral. I had had that type of puja, also, when I did nothing; spent the whole puja sitting at the bank of river Ganga as it was a time of grief.

In my youth, Puja was more than food and pandal hoping. Puja was the best time to be with your friend, family and dear ones it was more of resonance of the same activities that happen throughout the year.

After that much water has flown in the river Ganga and I have come across so many pujas, each time with a new surprise, fun and my consciousness grew with the growing adulthood. Then a time came when the golden period of life came to an end and I joined a private organization to become an engineer typist for giving a shoulder to my family or, better, to earn money at the cost of life. This is my present, a full-grown man with all his imperfections. The view has changed now; I see and analyze the trivial things of life, noting goes unnoticed from my eyes. Being happy in a happy moment is not just all; it’s about realization of self in happiness. Now happiness is, liking whatever I do, from an insignificant thing to a big one. After joining the work field, life has become very hectic. Holiday and leave appears to me like sweet dream and sometime I feel socially out casted for not being there at home on many social occasions or for my odd working hours. Not just Durga puja, any Public Holiday is like a stress relief from long work life. Durga puja now means a much anticipated few day leave, it means uninterrupted sleep at night, chatting with good old friends after a long time, recalling the childhood memory of puja, spending night at Puja pandal and also intake of vitamin “A” i.e. Alcohol without which no celebration is complete.

So many pujas have come, so many yet to come in my life ahead; the color, smell may be different but key ingredients remained the same i.e. the three F’s: Family, Friend and Fun.

Zero tolerance for corruption

Good, bad co-exists. There is no way to iron out the bad completely but we can extract the good as much as possible keeping bad at bay. Not everything is bad. At a time when both options seem insatiable, we have to select an option which is less bad. 

A Government, selected through the democratic system, has all the power to do all necessary adjustment or to implement necessary policies but he has two responsibilities as a selected head of the country: good governance and accountability. Whether the present government is competent enough to steer the wheel of the country is a moot point, but accountability is a bigger matter; it has to explain whatever steps it is taking; this much transparency should be there within the Govt. So at any point of time we have the complete right to criticize our own Government if, any time, it goes astray. But at the same time we can’t subvert the power of highest institutions like Parliament, Bureaucracy.  In a vibrant democracy like India, where everybody has the freedom to protest or freedom to express his opinion, we can’t blackmail Govt. by the extreme power of protest: fast-unto-death. Among 13 non-violence movements of Mahatma Gandhi, during our freedom movement, only three were fast-unto-death but none of them was to extract particular demand from British rather they were meant for uniting the whole country against a particular cause. Also this type of movement was justified at that time to bring democracy in a non-democratic system, now it’s outdated. And if it becomes successful then it may open floodgate of many such movement in future.  

Till 15 august, 2011, I was confused, thinking whom to support and was maintaining a silence over the whole matter of Anna Uncle’s movement, but it can’t help. Better I opt the less bad option which is apt to the crisis. Then I thought if I call Anna’s way of protesting is an outdated one then I have to call the agitation in Arab countries a crime. J If this is blackmailing, then let it be, as long as it’s for a noble cause, as long as it facilitating our country where both of the ruling and opposition party fail to carry out their corresponding responsibilities. Selected Govt. may or may not take the suggestion of the common people but govt. can’t gag the voice of its detractor whether it’s an opposition or common people like Anna Hazare. The Govt. or opposition is preaching in for maintaining the supremacy of parliament but when opposition creates ruckus in parliament or walk out from parliament to show their disagreement, nobody cry foul for undermining Parliamentary supremacy. We may or may not support Anna ji but we can’t just turn our face off from the noble cause he is fighting for. I believe, this Lokpal is not the only solution or not that Lokpal bill will create a corruption free society but we should think positively and Lokpal bill is the first step for that. It’s not that only the Govt. employees are corrupted, common people or civil society is also corrupted; but we need to start the process of controlling this. A fish start rotting from head to tail so also the corruption. If our leaders show us the right path by setting up example their good vibes bound to cascade downwards. So the correction process should start from top towards the bottom of the pyramid. 

Let’s join our hands in pray for “Corruption free society”.

Jago mango people Jago!! Now it’s time to raise our voice against “Bandh Politics”.

One of the most evil results of human civilization is “Bandh” (in English general strike). This is the most powerful means used worldwide to protest against the injustice or to fulfill a political goal but the easiest way to establish political identity in India. As per the communism theory, this is the last and most effective weapon to set the authorities’ teeth on the edge.  It used to be the last of all protests when all other doors were closed; also it didn’t involve violence if the demand was not reached. 

In the history communism, Bandh, Hartal, General strike all these means of protest were in a society, when there was problem of capitalism, when there was no means to increase public awareness or when there was not so active media. May be this was right at that time and in that kind of society, but, now-a-days this tool has lost its meaning due to its overuse not only by communist party but  also by all small and big parties in India, especially in West Bengal. Common People (I mean apolitical) see it as a mere political vandalism which means a loss of business, loss of time, loss of money, loss of property overall depletion of economy. On any Bandh, people stay closed in home or spend it as a holiday; it’s not that they do it to show solidarity rather they do it out of fear or to avoid harassment. When other countries around the world have chosen other means of protest, we still love to be in the 19^th century dragging the country backward. 

The state with the maximum Bandhs in India is West Bengal  where the average number of bandhs per year is 40-50. So we can imagine how many crores of rupees they loss each year. Yesterday, I heard news that out West Bengal Govt. is looking for a law or legal way to counter this evil way which stalls the human life. I don’t know whether it’s a gimmick or not; but, respectable Chief Minister, if you could bring such change to our state averting all kind of political repulsion, not only the people of WB, but also the entire India will remember you as a leader, a leader to be followed.
